The latest weather advisory says all events in the 2008 Cornhusker State Games will be held as scheduled, including the Opening Ceremonies.
The entry deadline for the McDonalds Fremont Junior Open is tomorrow. If you were wanting to play this tournament and haven’t registered yet, you’ll want to head over to TennisLink right away.

While we were out having fun on the courts, they were busy keeping everything running smoothly. We really appreciate all your hard work!
It was good to be able to use the YMCA indoor courts when we had early morning rain showers on Saturday. Justin, Sarah, and Diana did a good job coordinating the tournament from two locations while the outdoor courts were drying.

The Open Singles Champion at the 2008 Centre Court KFC/Jones Soda/24c Nebraska Closed Tennis Tournament played in Fremont, NE July 11-13 was Noel Hoig of Omaha, the 4th seed in the tournament. He defeated the # 1 seed Erik Hjermstad , also of Omaha, 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-3.
Third place went to Michael Sambol of Omaha when his opponent, Rick Stempson of Lincoln withdrew because of an emergency.
The consolation match was won by Ryan Burger of Lincoln. He defeated Erik McKnight of Omaha, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0(2).

No Fremont players played in the Open Singles division.
The winners of the Open Doubles division at the 2008 Centre Court KFC/Jones Soda/24c Nebraska Closed Tennis Tournament played in Fremont, NE July 11-13 were the # 1 seeds, Erik Hjermstad of Omaha and Frederick Hotz of Grand Island. They defeated Chris Salem and Jamie Tallman of Lincoln in the final, 6-2, 7-6(5).
Congratulations Erik and Frederick.
There were no Fremont players in the Open Doubles division.
The Men’s 4.5 Doubles at the 2008 Centre Court KFC/Jones Soda/24c Nebraska Closed Tennis Tournament played in Fremont, NE July 11-13 had three teams entered. The event was played as a round robin.
Round 1 – Ryan Burger and Jonathan Schleicher defeated Roland Augspurger of Columbus and Mike Willman of Fremont 6-4, 6-1.
Round 2 – Vince Ganshorn and Maurice Higgins defeated Roland Augspurger and Mike Willman, 6-4, 6-1.
Round 3 – Vince Ganshorn and Maurice Higgins defeated Ryan Burger and Jonathan Schleicher 6-2, 6-1.
