Fremont Girls Tennis Team at State Meet
The Fremont High Girls Tennis Team earned 12 points on day one at the Class A state tennis tournament May 21, 2009 at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha.
At No. 1 doubles, Jessica Spalding and Megan Robertson were seeded 10. They were state champions last year at No. 2 doubles, and compiled a 25-8 record this year at No. 1 doubles. In their first round at state, they defeated Kailey Bottum and Deanna Jordan of Omaha Northwest 6-1, 6-1. They followed that with a 2nd round victory over 7th seeded Ashley Meyers and Sammi Licari of Columbus, 6-4, 6-2. They then lost the 3rd round match to the No. 2 seeded team of Breanna Keller and Lauran Keller of Omaha Westside, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 doubles, Erica Dickmeyer and Jessye Johnson won their first round match 6-1, 6-0 over Crystal Schafer and Veronica Martinez of Omaha South, followed by a win over Abby Langpaul and Emily Rech of Bellevue East, 6-3, 6-0. They were then defeated in the 3rd round by 4th seeded Madeline Brown and Dayna Cohen of Millard West, 6-4, 6-0.
At No. 1 singles, Mallory Iseminger of FHS lost 6-0, 6-0 to 9th seeded Alexandria Tran of Omaha Central.
Sydney Robertson, playing at No. 2 singles, lost 6-1, 6-3 to Courtney Buchberger of Grand Island.
The Fremont Lady Tigers played hard this season. They had some good wins, and some tough losses. Congratulations on a hard-fought year, and thanks for representing the Fremont area in tennis.
