2009 First State Bank and Trust Co. Fremont Junior Open Tennis Tournament

USTA Missouri Valley NebraskaThe First State Bank and Trust Co. Fremont Junior Open Tennis Tournament is scheduled for June 9-11, 2009 at the Fremont Senior High School courts. The tournament is sanctioned by the USTA and the Misouri Valley Tennis Association. Events are planned for boys and girls for 12-and-under through 18-and-under.

The deadline for entering is June 2. For more information or to enter online, go to Tennislink – Fremont Junior Open.

Here’s a chance for all our Fremont tennis players to play in a tournament close to home. If you haven’t played in a tournament before, this is a good chance to get some tournament experience, have some fun, and meet some new tennis friends. Who knows? This could be your first step to playing in one of the Grand Slams some day!

Women’s Summer leagues begin tomorrow!

Fremont Women's Summer Tennis LeaguesJust a quick reminder, the Tuesday morning Women’s Summer Tennis Leagues are scheduled to begin tomorrow, May 19, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. The Thursday evening group will begin May 21 at 7:00 p.m.

If you haven’t signed up yet, you may print an entry form at Women’s 2009 Summer League. Don’t let the Summer go by wishing you had played. Join in the fun with your tennis friends, or make some new tennis friends!

Fremont Girls Tennis Team finishes 4th in HAC

Fremont High Girls TennisThe Fremont High School girls tennis team ended up with a 4th place finish in the Heartland Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament.

Lincoln Southwest won the overall team title with 28 points. Lincoln East was second with 23, and Lincoln Southeast was 3rd with 20 points. Fremont had 12 points for 4th place.

Fremont’s No. 2 doubles team of Erica Dickmeyer and Jessye Johnson finished second, beating teams from Lincoln Southeast and East before losing to Lincoln Southwest.

The No. 1 doubles team of Jessica Spalding and Megan Robertson finished 2-1 and placed 3rd, defeating Lincoln North Star and Lincoln Southwest before losing to Southeast.

At No. 2 singles, Sydney Robertson was 4th. She earned a first-round win over North Star before losing to Southeast and East.

In No. 1 singles play, Mallory Iseminger lost to players from Southeast and Lincoln High.

The Tigers will compete Thursday in the Class A meet at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha.

FHS Girls Tennis Team earns another clean sweep

Fremont High Girls TennisLincoln High was the victim as the Fremont High girls tennis team earned its second dual tennis sweep of the week Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln.

Jessica Spalding, Megan Robertson and Erica Dickmeyer, competing at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles respectively, all blanked their opponents with 8-0 wins. Fremont High allowed Lincoln High only 11 games all day.

Fremont competes Friday in the Heartland Athletic Conference Meet being held at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln. Jessica Spalding and Megan Robertson are seeded first at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Erica Dickmeyer and Jessye Johnson are seeded second. Mallory Iseminger is seeded sixth at No. 1 singles and Sydney Robertson is the fourth seed at No. 2 singles.

FHS Girls Tennis Team sweeps Blair 9-0

Fremont High Girls TennisAfter their loss to Omaha Burke on Monday, the Fremont High girls tennis team came back with a strong win over Blair on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Fremont Family YMCA. The meet was moved indoors because of the rain.

The Lady Tigers were tough, winning convincingly while allowing the Blair Bears to win only 13 games all day.

Fremont will play on Thursday at Lincoln High School, and then will begin the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament Friday at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln.

Tuesdays results in singles play:
