Omaha Burke came out on top Monday, May 11, 2009, against the Fremont Senior High girls tennis team. Burke won the match 7-2 at the FHS tennis complex.

The lone winners for the Fremont Tigers were Erica Dickmeyer at No. 3 singles and the doubles team of Dickmeyer and Jessye Johnson at No. 2 doubles. Two other matches were very close. Mallory Iseminger at No. 5 singles, and Sydney Robertson at No. 6 singles both lost in tie-breaks, 8-9.

The Lady Tigers end their home season Tuesday, May 12 when they host Blair at the FHS tennis complex.

Monday’s results in singles play:

• No. 1 – Jessica Spalding lost 3-8
• No. 2 – Megan Robertson lost 2-8
• No. 3 – Erica Dickmeyer won 8-3
• No. 4 – Jessye Johnson lost 5-8
• No. 5 – Mallory Iseminger lost 8-9 (4)
• No. 6 – Sydney Robertson lost 8-9 (6)

The men’s Summer outdoor league has begun. We had a practice night last Wednesday, May 6, 2009. So now we need all tennis players to come for the official start next Wednesday, May 13, at the Fremont High School Tennis Complex.

Singles play for all levels begins at 6:00 p.m. The doubles matches get underway about 7:30 p.m. You may play doubles with a partner of your choice, or be teamed up with a partner each night.

Come one. Come all! The more the merrier. Get some exercise and have some fun with your tennis friends each Wednesday! Don’t let yourself go through the Summer, and then think, “I wish I would have played on the tennis leagues this Summer.” Come next Wednesday evening and we’ll help you avoid that devastating regret which you could have if you don’t come to league play!

It was a tough match for the Fremont High girls tennis team at the FHS tennis complex on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. They lost a dual to Millard West by a score of 1-8.

Megan Robertson was the lone winner for Fremont with an 8-2 win at No. 2 singles.

The 2009 Body Basics Get in Shape Tournament was held May 2-3 in Lincoln, NE.

Brian Mark and Dana Mark entered the 3.5 Men’s doubles event. There were only three teams entered, so the event was played as a round robin. Brian and Dana won their first match against Craig Matulka of Bee, NE, and Steven Page of Lincoln, NE, 6-3, 6-0. In the 2nd round, Brian and Dana were defeated by Bernal Quesada and Bob Branchaud, both of Lincoln, NE, 6-3, 6-3. Branchaud and Quesada won their 2nd round over Matulka and Page 6-1, 6-1, giving Brian and Dana the runner-up status.

Brian and Dana also played singles. Brian lost his first-round match to Myron Sikora of Omaha, NE, 6-4, 6-1. Brian is picking up where he left off last year, getting a tough first match opponent. Sikora made it to the finals where he lost a 3rd-set tie-break to Dan Hrivnak of Bennington, NE. Brian then lost a consolation 8-game pro-set 8-2.

In singles, Dana was defeated by Bernal Quesada of Lincoln, NE, 7-5, 6-0. He then beat Jim Shanklin of Maryville, MO, in a consolation 8-game pro-set 9-7.

The weather was excellent, and the tennis was good. You should have been there! Be watching for the sign-up deadline reminder for the next tournament coming the end of this month.

The Fremont High School girls tennis team lost a dual to Lincoln East 6-3 on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Fremont High School tennis complex. There were a couple of close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles which easily could have turned the outcome around. Jessica Spalding lost on a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, and Megan Robertson dropped a close 8-6 match at No. 2 singles. Spalding and Robertson later made up for their singles losses with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

• No. 2 – Megan Robertson lost 6-8
• No. 3 – Erica Dickmeyer won 8-6
• No. 4 – Jessye Johnson lost 2-8

In doubles play:
