Fremont Tigers Boys TennisThe Fremont High School boys tennis team finished 4th at the Heartland Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, October 2, 2009 in Lincoln.

Lincoln Southeast won the meet, Lincoln East finished 2nd, Lincoln Southwest finished 3rd, with Fremont coming in 4th. Picking up wins for the Fremont Tigers were Jimmy Young at No 1 Singles, Mac Richards at No. 2 Singles, Alex Hamilton/Brady Zoucha at No. 1 Doubles, and George Hartman/Torrey Escamilla at No. 2 Doubles. Coach Justin Bigsby was quoted in the Fremont Tribune, “Fourth place is a great finish for us in this conference this year. We were hoping to stay in the middle of the pack, considering the seeds we earned, and especially considering that we lost (No. 1 singles player) Luke Samuelson for the tournament on Friday.”

In singles play:

  • No. 1 – Jimmy Young lost 2-6, 3-6, won 8-3, then lost 2-8.
  • No. 2 – Mac Richards lost 0-6, 0-6, lost 0-8, then won 8-4.

In doubles play:

  • No. 1 – Alex Hamilton/Brady Zoucha won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, lost 0-6, 2-6, and lost 2-8.
  • No. 2 – George Hartmann/Torrey Escamilla won 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, lost 4-6, 1-6, and lost 3-8.
