Kearney Wins Dual Against Fremont
The Fremont High Girl’s Tennis team made a trip to Kearney for the Kearney High Doubles Invitational, but that was rained out. However, the Tigers were able to play a dual with the Kearney Bearcats on the indoor courts at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
It was a tough dual for Fremont, with Kearney winning all but one varsity match. Jessica Spalding was the lone winner for FHS, defeating Candace Green 8-3 at No. 2 singles. FHS coach, Heidi Moran, said that Spalding played the best tennis of the season in the win. “She was so focused that we called her ‘laser eyes.’” Moran said. “After she and Megan Robertson dropped their doubles match at the beginning of the day, she was not going to have that happen again. She showed us that she could bring her game to the next level today.”
Moran added, “I also felt that some of the singles scores we ended up with did not reflect the games we saw today – the girls made some excellent improvement today.”
