FHS Tennis Team splits at Burke/Prep Triangular

Luke PrescottThe Fremont High boy’s tennis team had a win and a loss Tuesday in a triangular with Omaha Burke and Creighton Prep at the FHS tennis courts.

Fremont defeated Burke 4-2, but lost to Creighton Prep 6-0.

Junior Torrey Escamilla got the only singles win for FHS against Burke at No. 1 singles. He defeated Matt Hrdlicka 8-5. Fremont swept doubles play. Brady Zoucha and Luke Samuelson won 8-4, Mac Richards and Kiefer Wilson won 8-5 and Robbie Giovanazze and Nick Niday won 8-3.

Samuelson and Zoucha had the best showing for Fremont against Prep winning three games from Niko Piperos and Ethan Gart.

Mark Leahy wins 4.0 title

Mark Leahy, championCongratulations to Mark Leahy of Fremont, who is shown here displaying his trophy after winning the 4.0 Men’s Singles Championship at the Omaha NTRP Adult Sponsored by RW Baird tournament on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010.

On his way to the championship, Mark advanced through five rounds without dropping a set, including wins over:

  1. Todd Hultman of Omaha, 6-1, 6-3.
  2. Jeff Holland of Omaha, 6-4, 6-1.
  3. Mark Jackson of Omaha, 6-1, 6-3.
  4. Robert Harris of Omaha, 7-6, 6-0.
  5. and No. 1 seed, Joseph Shea of Omaha, 6-1, 6-3.

Elkhorn South defeats FHS in tennis dual

Fremont Tigers Boys TennisElkhorn South narrowly defeated the Fremont High Boy’s Tennis team 5-4 on Tuesday.

Elkhorn South took two of the three doubles matches, both by a score of 9-7.

Luke Samuelson, Luke Prescott and Kiefer Wilson all won in singles play. Torrey Escamilla and Jordan Perry teamed up for the only win in doubles.

The team plays again at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon when they host Lincoln in a dual. [Read more →]

Fremont Boys Tennis Team finishes fifth at invitational

Fremont Tigers Boys TennisThe Fremont High boys tennis team placed fifth at the Lincoln High/Lincoln Northeast Invitational Saturday.

Fremont finished with 42 points, three behind Norfolk and Omaha Central who tied for third with 45 points. Lincoln Southwest won the meet with 72 points and Hastings was second with 48 points. [Read more →]
