2014 Women’s Summer Leagues forming

announcement 2014 Womens Summer Leagues formingThe 2014 Women’s Outdoor Summer Leagues are now forming. For complete information, see the links to the registration form, the league policy, or the membership letter below.

There will be two women’s leagues:

  • Tuesdays, 8:45 a.m. running May 27 – August 12.
  • Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. running May 29 – Auguest 14.

Both leagues will play doubles with partners assigned by the league directors based on winning percentage.

Men’s Summer Leagues Now Forming

announcement Mens Summer Leagues Now FormingThe 2014 Men’s Summer Tennis League sponsored by the Fremont Tennis Association is now accepting entries. Entry deadline – May 10.

League play is for players of all levels, and will take place on Wednesdays, beginning May 14, 2014 at the Fremont High School Tennis Complex.

League Format:

  • 6:15 p.m. Singles Play
  • 7:30 p.m. Doubles Play

Players may play singles and/or doubles. Come as a doubles team, or pair up with someone at the courts. Entry deadline is May 10.

High School and College players are invited to play.

Balls will be provided.

Fremont April ROGY Event

Rogy Logo Fremont April ROGY EventA ROGY kids tennis event for kids aged 6-10 has been scheduled at the Fremont High School tennis courts for Sunday, April 13th. Play will be indoors at the YMCA in case of inclement weather. See below for a description of ROGY tennis. The skill level is for entry level to intermediate.

Registration is online only, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Click here – ROGY Tennis Event to register or for more information.

Entrants must comply with ROGY Rules and Regulations. Click here – ROGY Rules and Regulations for a more complete listing.

ROGY stands for the color of ball that is used, Red, Orange, Green, or Yellow, with each being a progressively more advanced level.

    10 and Under ROGY Entry Level Guidelines.

  • Red Ball: At least 6 years of age; no older than 8.
  • Orange: At least 7 years of age; no older than 10.
  • Green: AT least 8 and have earned 10 credits in orange or appear on the green grandfather list; no older than 10 years of age.

If your children are interested, register them now. Spread the word to others you know who might be interested.

Fremont Tennis Buddies

TennisBuddies 150x138 Fremont Tennis BuddiesThe Special Olympics Fremont Tennis Buddies program is ready to start up for this year. Practice will start on March 9th, 2014, 4:30-5:45 pm. at the Fremont Family YMCA. The program is open to all ages and abilities.

Dates for practice are March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th, 27th and May 4th.

We will then break and start up again in June.

Nancy Ahrens has agreed to be Head Coach/Leader this season.

Fall Games on August 10th will be the Special Olympics State Tournament for Tennis Buddies.

Volunteers are needed. It is a great experience for those who give their time and talents for the athletes.
