Rogy Logo Fremont April ROGY EventA ROGY kids tennis event for kids aged 6-10 has been scheduled at the Fremont High School tennis courts for Sunday, April 13th. Play will be indoors at the YMCA in case of inclement weather. See below for a description of ROGY tennis. The skill level is for entry level to intermediate.

ROGY stands for the color of ball that is used, Red, Orange, Green, or Yellow, with each being a progressively more advanced level.

    10 and Under ROGY Entry Level Guidelines.

  • Red Ball: At least 6 years of age; no older than 8.
  • Orange: At least 7 years of age; no older than 10.
  • Green: AT least 8 and have earned 10 credits in orange or appear on the green grandfather list; no older than 10 years of age.

Fremont Tennis Buddies

TennisBuddies 150x138 Fremont Tennis BuddiesThe Special Olympics Fremont Tennis Buddies program is ready to start up for this year. Practice will start on March 9th, 2014, 4:30-5:45 pm. at the Fremont Family YMCA. The program is open to all ages and abilities.

Dates for practice are March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th, 27th and May 4th.

We will then break and start up again in June.

Nancy Ahrens has agreed to be Head Coach/Leader this season.

Fall Games on August 10th will be the Special Olympics State Tournament for Tennis Buddies.

Volunteers are needed. It is a great experience for those who give their time and talents for the athletes.

  • Sundays: Oct. 27 – Dec. 9 (except Dec. 1st).
  • Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $10 per player (payable to Tyson).

Reservations preferred, but drop-ins also welcome.

Participate in a fun and fast paced doubles clinic that will increase your love of the game.

Cardio Tennis Classes offered

Cardio Tennis 150x150 Cardio Tennis Classes offeredCardio Tennis Classes are being offered at the Fremont Family YMCA beginning the first week in November. There are various 6-week sessions for youth through adults.

Cardio Tennis is a fun group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout!

The classes are led by Kerri Pentel, a certified tennis teaching professional and a former Division 1 tennis player.

Classes are offered as follows:

  • Youth (8 Yr & Older) – Tuesdays 5:00-6:00 pm, Nov. 6 – Dec. 10, 2013. Cost: $30 Y members; $48 non-members.
  • High School – Thursdays 6:15-7:15 pm. Nov. 7 – Dec. 19, 2013. Cost: $30 Y members; $48 non-members.
  • Adult – Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 pm Nov. 6 – Dec. 18, 2013. Cost: $36 Y members; $60 non-members.

There are no classes Nov. 27 or Nov. 28 due to Thanksgiving.
