Two Junior Tennis Tournaments coming up

announcement Two Junior Tennis Tournaments coming upThere are two Junior tennis tournaments coming up in Fremont. These are tournaments for players aged 18 and under. Participants will be grouped by age.

This is a good chance for some of our Fremont Junior players to gain some match experience, meet some new tennis friends, and play some exciting tennis.

    • Entry deadline: June 1
    • Fremont Senior High School courts
    • Age brackets for 12′s, 14′s, 16/ and 18′s
  2. 14th Annual Sherin Custer Memorial
    • Thursday, June 24, 2010
    • Approximately 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
    • Fremont Senior High School courts
    • Non-elimination singles tournament
    • For 18 and under – grouped by age.
    • A fun tournament

Courts to be resurfaced

announcement Courts to be resurfacedThe tennis courts at the Fremont High School Tennis complex are scheduled to be resurfaced beginning next week on Monday, May 10.

The project is set to take 10 days to two weeks, and is dependent of course on the weather. Should the project get under way as scheduled, leagues and other tennis activity at the High School tennis complex will be suspended for about two weeks.

Check back here for progress. We’ll update you as to when completion is expected.

Nebraska 12′s Team Tryouts (Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney)

AnnouncementThe Nebraska 12′s Team Tryouts are scheduled in three locations this year, beginning March 19th.

Those who played on the team in 2009 do not need to attend the tryouts, but must play in the qualifying tournament to be held April 9-11 at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln, NE.

The schedule for 2010 is as follows:

  • Omaha Tryouts at Hanscom Tennis Center, March 19th, 6 pm to 8 pm.
  • Lincoln Tryouts at Woods Tennis Center, March 20th, 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • Keaney Tryouts TBD – contact Troy Saulsbury at troysulz@frontiernet.net

Tennis Ladder Started For Fremont Area

Fremont Tennis LadderThere is a new feature available for the Fremont Tennis Association, a Fremont Area Tennis Ladder. It has been established through the Global Tennis Network system, with a Tennis Ladder ID of 1222.

This Ladder System will allow you to register, challenge other players who are registered for this particular ladder, find some new opponents to play, check your ranking, and have more tennis fun.

Invite your friends who might be interested to register as well. The more we get registered, the more opportunity we will have to challenge and play.

Essential Tennis Clinic Coming March 20-21, 2010

Essential Tennis
An Essential Tennis Clinic will be coming to Fremont March 20-21 at the Fremont Family YMCA. The clinic will be led by teaching pro, Ian Westermann from New Market, Maryland.

Over the course of the weekend you will receive 10+ hours of professional advice from Ian Westermann and David Groemping. This is a comprehensive clinic which will focus on all areas of both technique and strategy. Included will be personal video analysis by Ian for both technique and strategy. Also included is a mental toughness workshop provided by mental coach David Groemping.

Be prepared to work hard in both cooperative and competitive drills as you receive personal instruction to help improve your tennis game. If your game has already improved thanks to the Essential Tennis Podcast just imagine how much benefit you’ll receive by working with Ian and David in person!
