Elkhorn South defeats FHS in tennis dual

Fremont Tigers Boys TennisElkhorn South narrowly defeated the Fremont High Boy’s Tennis team 5-4 on Tuesday.

Elkhorn South took two of the three doubles matches, both by a score of 9-7.

Luke Samuelson, Luke Prescott and Kiefer Wilson all won in singles play. Torrey Escamilla and Jordan Perry teamed up for the only win in doubles.

The team plays again at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon when they host Lincoln in a dual.

In varsity singles play:

  • No. 1 – Nikita Fomichev def. Torrey Escamilla (FHS) 8-4
  • No. 2 – Luke Samuelson (FHS) def. Alec Lubben 8-6
  • No. 3 – Blake Stargel def. Brady Zoucha (FHS) 8-2
  • No. 4 – Luke Prescott (FHS) def. Patrick Thomas 8-2
  • No. 5 – Hayden Byers def. Mac Richards (FHS) 8-3
  • No. 6 – Kiefer Wilson (FHS) def. Wayne Lemoine 8-2

In varsity doubles play:

  • No. 2 – Stargel/Byers def. Wilson/Prescott (FHS) 9-7

Fremont Boys Tennis Team finishes fifth at invitational

Fremont Tigers Boys TennisThe Fremont High boys tennis team placed fifth at the Lincoln High/Lincoln Northeast Invitational Saturday.

Fremont finished with 42 points, three behind Norfolk and Omaha Central who tied for third with 45 points. Lincoln Southwest won the meet with 72 points and Hastings was second with 48 points.

Luke Prescott advanced to the final of No. 2 singles where he fell 8-0 to place second with a 3-1 record.

The No. 1 doubles team of Brady Zoucha and Luke Samuelson overcame an early loss to place fifth after defeating Central 8-6 and end with a 3-1 record.

Torrey Escamilla finished 2-2 at No. 1 singles. He fell to Colin Buckley of Central 8-6 in the fifth-place match.

Mac Richards and Kiefer Wilson ended the day 0-4 at No. 2 doubles.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday in a dual at Elkhorn South.

Fremont High defeated by Millard West in opener

Fremont Tigers Boys TennisThe Fremont High Boy’s Tennis team was defeated by Millard West 7-2 Thursday at the Fremont High School Tennis complex.

Luke Prescott was a double winner for the Tigers, defeating Andrew Fehr 8-4 at No. 4 singles and teaming up with Torrey Escamilla to win 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Kody Drews and Ryan Pennington were singles winners for Fremont’s JV.

The Tigers are on the road Saturday morning at the Lincoln Northeast/Lincoln High Invitational at Woods Park in Lincoln.

Lady Tigers win final Dual

Fremont High Girls TennisThe Fremont Girls’ Tennis Team played their final dual of the season Thursday, May 13 and defeated Lincoln High 7-2.

For Fremont, Jessica Spalding won over Hannah Higgins 8-3 at No. 1 singles. Jessye Johnson defeated Lindsey Keller 8-6 at No. 3 singles, and Sydney Robertson had a shutout, 8-0 over Merdith Cain at No. 4, while Amy Ahrens had an easy win over Jessica Fasnacht, 8-1. [Read more →]

Millard West defeats Fremont High 7-2

Fremont High Girls TennisMillard West defeated the Fremont High girl’s tennis team 7-2 on Tuesday, May 4.

Megan Robertson and Jessye Johnson won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles for Fremont, while Amy Ahrens had an 8-4 win at No. 6 singles.

Fremont High’s JV team defeated Omaha Gross 12-1 to improve to 6-6 in duals. [Read more →]
